Project Overview

I collaborated with Karen Rejón, a graphic designer and project manager, to maintain, enhance, and optimize her portfolio website. The project aimed to ensure that her platform remains dynamic, easy to manage, and scalable over time. Using Framer’s advanced capabilities, I introduced several key improvements, including project filtering, CMS collections, and cross-linked CMS functionalities.

My Role

As the UI/UX designer and developer, I took the lead on maintaining and improving the functionality of Karen’s portfolio. My responsibilities included:

  • Implementing advanced CMS features.

  • Improving project organization and navigation.

  • Streamlining the process of adding and updating content.
I worked closely with Karen to ensure that all updates aligned with her goals and branding.

Key Features and Enhancements

  • Dynamic Project Filters: Introduced project filters to allow users to sort Karen’s projects by category or type, improving navigation and organization.

  • CMS Collections and Subsections: Built subsections for individual projects powered by CMS entries, enabling dynamic content updates without altering the site structure.

  • CMS Filters and Variables: Used CMS filters and variables to automate the organization of content across the platform, ensuring consistency and scalability.

  • Cross-Linked CMS Categories: Synced categories across two CMS collections to create a seamless connection between projects and their related categories. This also introduced a dedicated “Categories” section for each project.

  • Scalability and Ease of Updates: Ensured that the website could grow alongside Karen’s portfolio by enabling her to add new projects, categories, and subsections effortlessly through the CMS.

Challenges and Solutions

One challenge was designing a scalable and intuitive system that allowed Karen to manage her content independently while maintaining cohesive design. To address this, I:

  • Leveraged Framer’s CMS capabilities to create a fully modular and dynamic system.

  • Built cross-linked collections and filters to streamline the categorization and display of projects.
These solutions ensured that updates and new content seamlessly integrated into the site.

Results

The updated portfolio is a robust, future-proof platform that showcases Karen’s design and project management skills. With dynamic filters, organized subsections, and an easy-to-use CMS, the website offers an engaging experience for visitors and simplifies content management for Karen.
